The comfortable and well-appointed interior, excellent cuisine and efficient but discreet service combine for a relaxed and memorable occasion.

Located adjacent to the Meare and gardens this hotel offers 30 large, well-decorated en-suite bedrooms, ideal for couples or parties planning a short break or longer stay. There is a friendly bar serving light lunches, as well as a restaurant open in the evenings serving traditional and contemporary dishes useing fresh local produce. The sun terrace overlooks the lake and gardens, where in Summer the hotel has rowing boats for hire. The ideal location to discover the Suffolk coast, excellent coastal walks, birds and wildlife,cycling,riding, or just relax on the beach. Our own 18 hole golf course is one of the finest in East Anglia often compared to Woodhall Spa, a test for the experienced golfer. The village still has the traditional atmosphere and quirkiness of a by gone age. Built in the early 1900,s as a holiday destination for coloniels and their families home on leave from the British Colonies. The updated facilities and renovations within the hotel and village have been sympathetically introduced.

Benson Blakes is decorated in a modern contemporary style; the rooms are all en-suite, some with sea views. They are all equipped to a very high standard. Breakfast is served from 9.00am to noon or earlier , if prebooked. Children and pets are welcomed. We are situated in an area of outstanding beauty with many attractions to suit everyones tastes; Snape Maltings, Castles at Framlingham & Orford, Southwold, Minsmere & Dunwich, Suffolk Heritage Coast, Norfolk Broads, Pleasurewood Hills and much much more
