Built circa 1760 as a hotel to provide accommodation for guests wishing to take the waters Pannanich is situated in a rural position on Pannanich Hill over-looking the Dee valley. Externally Pannanich is a plain granite house little changed over the centuries. Internally Pannanich changes into a comfortable well appointed hotel. All rooms are en-suite with shower or bath and shower, and, have all the usual room accessories.In 2003 we have added a self catering unit which can be let as an annex suite. The hotel is totally non-smoking

There are welcoming log fires in the lounge and a panelled entrance foyer which contribute to the friendly atmosphere found in the hotel. This area has attracted Royalty since Queen Victoria - it would appear that almost every shop in Ballater is by 'Royal Appointment'! The banks of the river Dee, again made famous by the Royal Family for their love of its salmon fishing, make a perfect morning stroll before breakfast. Those who enjoy watching wildlife will not be disappointed as kingfishers and red squirrels, both rare in other parts, are regular visitors to the Dee.

Set in the heart of Royal Deeside, this Victorian hotel makes an idea base to explore the natural beauty of Scotland. There are many tourist and sporting activities close by including golf, skiing, fishing and stalking. Royal Deeside is particularly famous for its hunting and fishing, with visitors from around the world visiting our region. Glenshee and the Lecht, two of the five Scottish ski resorts, are both approximately 30 miles from the hotel, with the necessary instruction and ski equipment available for hire. Braemar and Balmoral Castle, the Scottish residence of the Royal Family, which is open to the public during summer, is only 15 miles from the Loch Kinord Hotel.
