Originally a nineteenth century farmhouse, the building now has been restored as a pleasant country hotel, the reception fireplace still featuring the original brick built bread oven. Close to the town, but standing alone in the countryside, the hotel is ideally located for those who what the comfort of home as well as the convenience of town. Located on the main (A68) road, the tourist route to Scotland, we are perfect for holidaymakers; yet only 5-10 minutes from the commercial sites of Bishop Auckland, Newton Aycliffe, Shildon, Darlington and Teeside, making the Wheatside Hotel the perfect choice for the business traveller also.
