The expansive lawns are sunlit from morning till night, a sunbathers paradise, but the large Victorian Verandah offers shade when required and is also a favourite spot for after dinner coffee - our mild West country climate often enables guests to enjoy the sea view across to the twinkling lights of East Devon long after the sun has gone down. The Langstone Cliff Hotel is especially fortunate in having so many large public rooms overlooking the sea. We are only a few minutes walk from the beach, harbour and town centre; Lundy Island is just a short boat trip away by the supply vessel M.S. The Beechwood was built in 1883 as a Victorian gentleman's residence. It has fine period features which together with modern comforts and facilities creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Antique furniture, original paintings and William Morris inspired furnishings add to the ambience. All the spacious guest rooms are en-suite, with remote control colour television, clock radio, central heating, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a comfortable drawing room in which to relax, a separate licensed bar and a pleasant dining room where you can enjoy a Continental or Full English Breakfast. Our thatched farmhouse is older than Shakespeare! Sampsons farm provides the perfect retreat in which to relax and unwind. The house features medieval oak beams and screens (which originally separated the areas for family and cattle), inglenook fireplaces with log fires in the winter, and even a priests hideaway hole. Set in its own grounds in a sleepy village, Sampsons Farm has been owned and run by the Bell family for two generations. We are well practised in creating the perfect conditions for a restful holiday or business trip. A range of pretty en-suite rooms is available in our purpose designed barn conversions around the farm courtyard. All rooms have central heating, television, hot drinks facility and country views. For a special treat we have a luxurious suite with balconies and sun deck. A new ground floor, en-suite is available for disabled guests. Our ground floor apartment is perfect for families, groups and guests with dogs, whilst cosy rooms under the thatch in the farmhouse are also offered, and a four poster bed is available. This 15th century thatched coaching inn is situated in the market town of Hatherleigh. The hotel was used as a monestery when it was built and this theme has been carried on in the feel of the place. Set in a cobblestone court yard, with hanging baskets this property has personality and character from the Mad Monks bar through to the loos you never know what you may spot next. The Rowcroft is a comfortable 4 Diamond family hotel which has been recently refurbished. Our well appointed bedrooms - all en-suite and all non smoking - are perhaps more spacious than usual in a private hotel. The Rowcroft enjoys a peaceful situation, around 100 yards level walk to glorious beaches and overlooking a beautiful park, complete with boating lake. Our hotel is on a good level position just 80 yards stroll to the Sea Front with a safe, sandy beach. The Pier, Shops, Restaurants and large Multiplex Cinema are just a few minutes level walk away. All our spacious modern bedrooms have Playstation, in-house movie entertainment, modem point, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The garden brasserie restaurant and lounge bar are open from 6 am until midnight serving an array of european and international dishes and the heated outdoor swimming pool and terrace are available from May until September. The city centre and famous heritage sites such as the Barbican, Plymouth Hoe and Mayflower steps are only a ten minute drive away, alternatively why not visit Cornwall's newest attraction the Eden Project. The accommodation is arranged over 5 floors, with one elegant internal staircase leading to all our non-smoking bedrooms. The ground floor houses the informal bar and lounge, with its friendly and homely atmosphere it makes an excellent place to meet and relax after a hard days sight seeing or business meeting. The Coach House was built on a site which was originally an Anglo Saxon settlement in 850 AD, it was built by The Duke of Bedford in 1857 to his own design as part of a model farm, and it was sold in 1988 and converted to a high standard. The hotel is in a superb position, with a pretty sun-terrace, overlooking Torwood Gardens, and is only 400 yards from the harbour, the strand, shops and theatre, and close to the beach and seafront. Within walking distance is the coastal path, which leads to Beacon Cove, Meadfoot, Hope Cove, Ansteys Cove, Babbacombe Beach and Oddicombe Beach. The Natural History Museum is almost adjacent to the hotel and Torbay's famous Model Village is at the other end of Babbacombe Road, just a short bus ride away.

This English Tourism Council graded 4 Diamond (Guest Accommodation) small private hotel is run by the resident owners, Brian & Lynda, on Guest House principles letting them provide a more personal service often not provided by many larger hotels. The Buckingham Lodge is conveniently located in a quiet tree lined road, close to the beach at Torre Abbey Sands, Railway Station, Torre Abbey (with its Agatha Christie Room), Conference & Leisure Centre and shops. Also within walking distance are the Princess Theatre, Harbour and main shopping centre of Torquay. Hotel Peppers is the first hotel as you leave the harbour in Babbacombe road next to all major shops; the hotel is very well run by Shane Coleman who is the resident owner. Full office needs can be met here fax, e-mail etc. The tiny little cosy bar is a sight to behold full of interesting bits to look at (look for the Perry Como advertisement on smoking). You will not be disappointed here at this little gem, so arrive and forget the car you can walk to town with ease.This is a non smoking hotel.

Ansteys Lea became a small hotel in 1946, and is today a 24 bedroom hotel of great warmth and character. The hotel is situated between Torquay's town centre and marina on one side, and on the other side Babbacombe Downs with their magnificent sea views. The nearby village of Wellswood has a selection of all kinds of shops, including a bank, retail shops, florists and pub. Within ten minutes stroll from the hotel, you will be in Torquay's centre, enjoying the Edwardian Pavilion, the lights and the harbour. Or a short walk in the other direction takes you to Babbacombe with its famous Model Village - cited as one of the 'twenty places in Britain' you must visit by Woman magazine. Babbacombe also has Bygones, a museum and curiosity shop with a genuine railway engine. The main lawned area sees the sun for the best part of the day, and is so sheltered that almost anything grows. A well laid out rockery meanders round the lawns. A small summerhouse, close to the hotel, is a peaceful spot to survey the world go by. The heated swimming pool is surrounded by a large patio area. The hotel is on the main bus route into the city centre. It takes a matter of minutes. Our Wedgwood Blue Dining Room is both gracious and welcoming. Its main feature being a superb bay window which overlooks our landscaped garden with its famous Torbay Palms. The high traditional Victorian ceiling with cornices and roses are a wonderful architectural feature. The atmosphere in the dining room is enhanced by several original signed pictures, and lighting designed to create the right mood. We have even kept the original brass 'butler's bell' should you need attention. While waiting for dinner, you can relax in the adjoining lounge, where there are games, books, a teletext TV set and lots of information on things to do in the surrounding area. The lounge is comfortably furnished with matching settees and armchairs. On from the main blue dining room is another smaller dining room, with an intimate dance floor. From here glazed double doors lead on to another dining area overlooking the swimming pool and patio area. We have a romantic lighting system. From a dimmer switch, the dining area can be illuminated via ceiling and wall lights.
