The George Hotel was established in 1699, but there has been an inn on the site for over 600 years. Once the town hall of Battle, the George building was once a military court during the napoleonic wars. All our rooms are en-suite, with television and tea making facilities. Full English breakfast is served freshly cooked between 7-00 and 9-00 am. Continental breakfast can be served in your room by prior arrangement. The Hotel is popular with wedding parties and tours, being within 5 minutes walk of the picturesque battle Abbey. Brighton is well known for its conferences and the hotel is adjacent to the Brighton Centre and very close to the event hotels of the Grand and the Metropole. If you are coming for pleasure, then the hotel is only 100 meters from the sea front, 300 metres from the Palace Pier, 500 meters from the West Pier and only 2-3 minutes walking distance from the main shopping areas and the Lanes, where you will find fashion, jewellery and antique shops. Our hotel is just a few minutes walk from the shops, restaurants and nightlife. This period building with it's delightful sculptured exterior features and distinctive copper dome has been skilfully modernised and now provides all the facilities you expect in a four star hotel. The 63 bedrooms have all been recently refurbished to a high standard and are well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, modem port, trouser press, satellite TV, electronic safe and mini refrigerator. The 46 seaview bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and the Suites have panoramic views. The hotel also offers both smoking and non-smoking bedrooms. The Chequers Inn Hotel is a grade one listed building, situated in the picturesque village of Forest Row, surrounded by on the Ashdown Forest & has been standing here since 1452, with its original foundations mentioned in the Doomsday book. One hour by train to London, 30 minutes drive to Gatwick and 45 minutes to Brighton, the Chequers is centrally located in the South, with many 5 & 4 star hotels, such as the Ashdown Park, Gravetye Manor and Ravens Wood Park with in 10 minutes. Local attractions such as Pooh Corner and Pooh Bridge of A.A. Milne fame and the Bluebell Railway are also within 10 minutes drive of our hotel. John Beatson and his adopted son William Whalley Beatson hid in a meadow at the bottom of Wall Hill, by the entrance to an old Roman road. The mail coach made its call at the Chequers Inn to collect the weekends mail and then proceeded up Wall Hill, where it was waylaid by these two robbers just after midnight. The Beatsons took between 4000 and 5000 of the approximately 14000 total the mail coach was carrying that night. Their trial took place on March 29th 1802, by Judge Baron Hotham with the jury finding both men guilty and sentencing them to death by hanging. Gallows were erected on the spot where the robbery took place on, April 17th 1802; in the presence of 3000 people, Beatson and his adopted son were hung until dead. This was to be one of the last public hangings to take place in England.

Adastral Hotel is a Victorian villa situated 200 metres from the seafront, close to the shopping and leisure centres, in a quiet road having 2 parking places and reasonably priced on street parking. Although the hotel has been extensively modernised, this has been carried out in a sympathetic manner, so retaining most of the original architechural features.

The Olde Moat house dates from 1460 and is located just 15 minutes drive from Rye, on the borders of the historic and unique Romney Marshes.
