After many years of working in five star deluxe hotels in London and Hong Kong including the Shangri-La and Dorchester, Roger and Helen Wynn purchased the Wilton Court in May 2000. Since then the hotel has been carefully refurbished reflecting its 16th century origins and features many objects d' art, rugs and various collectables from the Middle and Far East creating an oasis of comfort and tranquillity. All ten of the recently refurbished bedrooms have been individually decorated with an abundance of personal touches and are complete with modern facilities, including colour video combi televisions and bathrooms that enjoy baths incorporating electric miras showers. All bedrooms are non smoking . For dining guests can enjoy the cuisine of our 2 AA rosettes. Our seasonal menus are sourced from using the best local produce and may be enjoyed in either the cosy wood panelled bar with its welcoming log fire in winter, or in the light Mulberry Restaurant with its conservatory with views of the terrace garden. The hotel has a stunning riverside location, with its own riverbank frontage and is located a mere fifteen minute walk into Ross on Wye, with easy access from anywhere in the UK via the M4, M5 and M50. The buildings have maintained their character and architectural features, the great oak entrance door giving access to the reception area. The hotel has 18 bedrooms. Several rooms have four-poster beds ideal for the honeymoon couple or a romantic get away. All the rooms have en-suite facilities and a large percentage have historical characteristics such as exposed wooden beams, original leaded windows and uneven floorboards creating a certain charm that transports you back to the 16th century.

Pengethley Manor offers the best of both worlds. The kitchen and restaurant, under the supervision of our Head Chef James Arbourne (two AA rosette holder), offers a wide choice of dishes, cooked and served to the highest levels, only using produce from our river bank gardens and local suppliers.

It is within easy reach of the M50 junction 4. The hotel has retained many of its original Georgian features, enabling guests to relax and enjoy their stay in comfortable surroundings. You'll be made to feel at home as soon as you step across the threshold of the main building, a fine Georgian Dower House once part of the Blackmore Park seat of Thomas Hornyold. The new bar and lounge area, with ample comfortable seating and lit in winter by a flickering log fire, is well stocked with cosmopolitan and sometime idiosyncratic selection of beers and spirits. Beyond is the piece de resistance, a spacious and elegant recently enlarged restaurant, where the delicious views through the tall windows are equalled only by the lofty reputation enjoyed by the cooking of the Chef Brigade, headed by another of the Patten family, Dominic. Its style is feted by many many guide books and recognised by the award of excellent ratings, is essentially English but influenced by flavours from around the world. It is complimented by an extensive wine cellar where, among the more familiar labels, adventurous palates will discover vintages from distant corners of the new and old worlds, on a list which has won Johansens Wine list of the year and has been a regular finalist in the AA Wine list competition. The bedrooms in the main building, whilst not large, are individually designed with a country feel, and all those at the front have breathtaking views. If you fancy a little more peace and quiet then leave the main building behind and stay in either Beech Cottage or the Pinnacles rooms, which are larger and offer luxurious accommodation.
