The hotel has been independantly assessed for service and quality and has gained a 2 star hotel rating with the AA, RAC and English Tourism Council ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and service are maintained. All aspects of the management of the hotel have been reviewed to ensure everything runs smoothly from reservations, an easy check-in to a quick check-out. The bar is a particular feature of the hotel providing a comfortable setting for a relaxed business or social evening. The a la carte restaurant has a varied and interesting menu serving either a snack or a three course meal. The accent is on quality and service and all the dishes are freshly prepared.

The Lord Lister Hotel was originally a Woolcomber's House built in the late 18th Century, and was owned by Thomas Williams. It later became a Quaker school known as the Isaac Brown Academy and many of our eminent 19th century scientists were educated there.
