This historical Hotel stands in the main square of the town, adjacent to the town hall. Many of the original materials are burried in the walls and floors, and the layout of the corridors and rooms gives as much to the Hotels' character as its age. The building has long been a resting place, and Hotel folklore tells that Charles Dickens once spent some time in the Hotel. Recent renorvations have seen the opening of MIZU Noodle Bar and The Betty Ford Club. Mizu is a modern oriental restaurant, combining dishes from all over the Far East, with over 80 dishes on the menu. All hotel residents automatically get a 10% discount on meals in Mizu. The Betty Ford Club is open on Friday & Saturday nights to over 21 year olds, and is the newest club in Ipswich. A great venue with a great atmosphere, all hotel residents get VIP admission. Modern Ipswich is a thriving town, with great shopping during the day, and a vibrant nightlife, and The Golden Lion Hotel is in the centre of it all.
