Chaucer House is quietly situated in Keswick opposite the church of St. John, away from the noise and bustle of town and traffic, yet within minutes of the Moot Hall, the town centre, theatre and Lake Derwentwater. As a family owned and managed hotel, our reputation is based on our attentive and friendly service without undue formality. The lounges and cocktail bar are bright and comfortably furnished; they feature craftsman-built local stone fireplaces, and paintings of lake scenes by local artists. Fresh homemade food is always available- breakfast and dinner in the dining room, and light lunches, sandwiches, packed lunches and picnics are available to order each day.

Friendly and efficient service throughout the hotel. When you have no restrictions on where to put a building you tend to put it in the best place, so when they were rebuilding the Queens Hotel in 1845, that's what they did. Situated in the geographical centre of Cumbria, surrounded by the 'Lake District National Park' and close to all the conveniences of the town, it is small wonder that the Queens Hotel has always flourished. The lounge and breakfast room is Non Smoking at all times. Situation and good food by themselves do not create the perfect holiday. Neither do comfortable well-appointed rooms, which of course we have. It is the small things like a friendly smile, and staff remembering you from last time, that we at the Queens think makes the big difference.
