The Hotel is located in the Tollcross district of the city centre. The West End and Princes Street's shops are just a ten minutes walk or so from the Hotel and in the immediate vicinity there are theatres, cinemas, traditional and modern bars, and a wide range of restaurants, bistros and coffee shops. Built in the 1860's, the Royal Ettrick Hotel was originally the grand town house of a rich Edinburgh barrister. The house was converted into a hotel in the 1940's, and today it is one of Edinburgh's finest small hotels. The Raeburn House is located in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh New Town, only ten minutes walk from the West End of Princes Street. The Beer Garden very popular for meals and family gatherings in the summer months.
