People often ask us what kind of hotel The Feversham Arms is. We like to think it is a place at ease with itself, where elements of our past and present mingle. It's a comfortable eclectic place. A good hotel is more than glorified interior design - the heart of The Feversham Arms it it's people. You'll find our staff naturally welcoming and relaxed and ready to get to know you. They are the kind of people you won't mind asking for something extra. The food is deeply rooted in the area that surrounds us, with an emphasis on game, lamb and seafood from nearby Whitby. It's what we like to call real food - not over-wrought and springs from an understanding that quality is not always complicated.

Beiderbeckes Hotel is not large (only 27 super rooms) but its standards bear favourable comparison with any equivalent hotel and many much larger ones. Its a hotel but its cuisine is far removed from the institutional fare offered by many of its competitors (its restaurant is by popular acclaim the best in town so book early for weekends). The hotel takes its name and inspiration from Jazz cornetist Bix Beiderbecke One of jazzs true giants and perhaps the first great lyricist, the hallmarks of his style and music are delicacy of phrase and nuance, wonderfully poised rhythmic sophistication and rich sonority. The hotel, although not large, has some outstanding features. Architecturally, occupying as it does a Grade II* listed building in what has been described as the most important Georgian terrace outside Bath. The hotel offered marvelous scope in terms of position to the hotel is ideally situated right in the heart of Scarborough, sited within a stones throw of the commercial, administrative, theatre and resort districts of the town. Moreover, as the hotel has its own car park, guests are able to avoid the worst of Scarborough's congestion. Throughout 1999 the hotel was completely renovated, modernised and restored. This refurbishment programme has affected every aspect and feature of the hotel, from the attic to the cellar. And now after all the trials and tribulations associated with such a radical building and remodelling exercise, the hotel is complete.

Red Lion Hotel
Burnsall Skipton, North Yorkshire, England, BD23 6BU.
Originally a 16th century Ferryman's inn, the RED LION at BURNSALL is open for accommodation and meals throughout the year; we offer superb food, fine wines and real ale. The main bar incorporates the original 16th Century structure of the Ferrymans Inn. The horsetrough which stood outside the front door now resides under the stone steps which lead to the bedrooms - it was easier to build around the trough over the centuries than move it! Traditionally panelled and floored in Oak by local craftsmen - the bar is a popular meeting and eating place for villagers and guests alike. We serve a wide selection of cask conditioned real ales and fine wines to be enjoyed along with an extensive brasserie menu. The menu features game in season from the nearby estates, beef from our son-in-law Robert Stockdale, and lamb from the Daggett family (both of whom farm just across the river). Fresh fish is delivered daily, cheeses are local, and produce is brought in from Cumbria - we are just proud of the quality of our food. Roaring log fires, beamed ceilings, creaky floors and a true Yorkshire welcome await you here at our family owned hotel.
