Holt Hotel
Oxford Road Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire, England, OX25 5QQ.
Nestling on the edge of the Cotswolds in picturesque Oxfordshire, ideally situated close to the M40 and to many local attractions such as the city of Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Bicester Designer Outlet Shopping Village. Serving the warmest hospitality since 1475, from its early days as a coaching inn, the Holt has been one of the most popular hotels in Oxfordshire and not always with the most honourable clientele. Notorious highwayman Claude Du Vall often frequented the inn, spending his ill-gotten gains from the road, and is said to haunt the hotel to this day. With accomodation varying from single rooms to four-poster bedrooms with Jacuzzi, the Holt's facilities will satisfy the most demanding traveller. An enviable reputation for it's conferences and seminars in a choice of seven suites, all with natural daylight and a range of overnight packages, you may rest assured we know what we're doing. Weddings are a delight at the Holt and with a licence to hold civil ceremonies our expertise and experience will guide you through your special day. The Holt began life as a small trading post with a mere 6 bedrooms. This is a far cry from the 86 bedrooms now under its roof; however the charm and character of the building are still in tact. Being independently run, we are able to adopt an innovative approach, tailoring the Holt to suit the needs of every guest. Our international team are always pleased to welcome both familiar and new acquaintances.

Discover the intriguing architecture of this hotel; search for your room through narrow passages, past nooks and crannies. The buildings history is suitably idiosyncratic. Before its transformation into a restaurant, it was an antique shop and prior to that, a row of tiny cottages. Previously known as the Thatchers, the change of name to The Old Trout belies the owners sense of humour! Guests may choose from a number of well appointed bedrooms. Despite a number of charming peculiarities one of the rooms is accessed through a door only three foot six inches high! the beds are very comfortable; four posters are available. Woodstock is one of England's most beautiful and famous country towns. Constructed largely from Cotswold stone, its buildings date from the 12th century. It is host to a wealth of interesting shops, restaurants and historical buildings - including the Oxfordshire County Museum. Situated only eight miles from 'The Dreaming Spires' of the historic University of Oxford, on the edge of the spectacular Cotswolds and huddling next to the gates of Blenheim Palace - home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Woodstock has much to offer its visitors. Woodstock is just one hour's drive from London Heathrow, Birmingham and Cheltenham - Shakespeare's Stratford is a mere 45 minutes away. All rooms have been designed and decorated, for your comfort, using antiques and original paintings. Each room is individually named therefore giving them their own character and ambience. The rooms are located throughout the original seven houses and with its winding staircases and corridors it is easy to get lost within the labyrinth of The Feathers. The rooms vary in size and location, with some sited in The Feathers House - just 10 yards from the main hotel reception.
