Wentworth House Hotel is an imposing Victorian mansion built in 1887 for a wealthy merchant and his family. The house enjoys a peaceful location overlooking the beautiful city of Bath. Although just 15 minutes stroll from the city centre, it is a haven from the hustle and bustle. The Royal specializes in short breaks - its central location and friendly, informal atmosphere makes it a perfect location for a short holiday in the lovely City of Bath.This decidedly Georgian looking hotel was, in fact, built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel the famous English architect of the time for the arrival of the railway in Victorian times and the 'Royal' prefix was given as a reminder of Queen Victorias visit to the City of Bath. The Royal commenced trading in 1846. The original name was the Royal Station Hotel and because of the growing influence of rail travel and its close proximity to the station in 1852 an upper level footbridge was built directly linking the first floor of the hotel with the station platforms, for the convenience of hotel guests. This footbridge remained until 1936. The Royal has changed ownership a number of times during its nearly 150 years of history and in March 1995 PR Inns acquired the business. 'PR' is a small private company wholly owned by its two partners who are highly experienced hoteliers and restaurateurs. The Old Mill is beautifully located by the River Avon on a site that housed a flour mill until 1907. Since then it has been developed into a attractive hotel with lovely bedrooms, all en suite, banqueting suites and a delightful restaurant by the river with a unique waterwheel feature. The banqueting rooms, restaurant and bars have stunning views of the River Avon and the beautiful countryside surrounding it. The picture is completed by the pretty hotel gardens, alongside the river, which is popular with rowers, boating enthusiasts and for fishing holidays. The current owners, two very experienced hoteliers and restaurateurs acquired The Old Mill in April 1998. Since then they have completed an extensive refurbishment programme, resulting in all bedrooms, banqueting rooms and the restaurant and bar, being totally redecorated and refurbished.

Originally built as wealthy merchants' houses in the 1740s, the Abbey Hotel re-opened in 1990 following a full refurbishment, which included returning the front of the hotel to its original splendour. Over 300 years old, and set in delightful grounds only one mile from the centre of Taunton. The owners have opened up three of the original inglenook fireplaces and a complete working well over 30 feet deep which was uncovered in the kitchen.

Perfectly set in a hollow on the lower slopes of the Quantock Hills, the present house was rebuilt in 1710 after the previous building was destroyed in a fire. It has kept much of the style of the period with elegant exterior and classically styled rooms with some fine plasterwork and panelling. Set in 50 tranquil acres of it's own grounds with easy access to the lovely Quantock Hills it provides excellent walking opportunities, fantastic views over the Channel to the Welsh Coast and a huge wealth and diversity of wildlife including Wild Red Deer which roam in our park. The most recorded period in Alfoxton's history was the time William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy lived here and their great friend and fellow poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived in a village nearby. Inspired by the surrounding countryside William Wordworth wrote some of his finest works,including the Lyrical Ballads, while living here and also inspired on their walks Coleridge composed his now famous Rime of the Ancient Mariner the first reading of which he gave in the room that is now the Bar. Today Alfoxton Park is a comfortable hotel retaining much of the original charachter and charm, and offering good food and wine in a peaceful, relaxed friendly atmosphere with the vegetables and fruit used in the cooking and flowers for the house coming from our own Kitchen Garden. We also bake our own bread and the soups, pates, puddings, jam and marmalade are all made here adding to the enjoyment of the meals. Owners Mark and Melanie Haddigan have invested a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm in making the hotel into a haven of comfort, excellent food and attentive service. The 12 en suite bedrooms are split evenly between the main house and the coach house. All are enchanting, combining modern needs and requirements with tasteful decor and individual furnishings in cosy cottage style. The hotel enjoys magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year. We are approximately three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairy-tale castle. The traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles by road. The town offers shops, golf, sea-fishing trips, riding stables and an indoor swimming pool. The harbour is pretty and the old part of the town around the Church is worth exploring on the way up to North Hill which gives spectacular views of the coast and surrounding hills.

Chestnut House was originally the village farmhouse which dates back in part to the mid-1500s. 7 years ago, the property was fully renovated and reopened as a 5 diamond village hotel. The Thatched Cottage is a beautiful 300-year-old listed Inn lying in the heart of the Mendips. We have extensively refurbished and re-thatched the Inn to bring the buildings and the facilities up to the very highest standards. The contemporary open plan bar is not what the exterior of the building leads you to expect; elegant and light with its oak beams/wall paneling, wooden flooring and luxurious cream walls. Paintings were created for the design by Andrew Hennan, a local artist of some repute. The striking features continue through to the restaurant, seating 52, with two open fireplaces; an adult dining experience not to be missed.
